Brig. Gen. Keith Jones, post commander of Camp Roberts, waves goodbye to the Sgt. Maj. of the Army, Raymond Chandler III, after he had visited the California Army National Guard training base on Jan. 25, 2012. Jones and the key NCO leadership for the state hosted the SMA for a short four hour tour. After trying to explain all that had happened in the camps rich 70-year history and what the vision was for the future, the SMA was shown ongoing construction and had a chance to meet-and-greet Soldiers training at the base. He now heads back to the Pentagon with a better understanding of this facility and its potential to serve and support military training and operations in the Army's future.
