Chris Page, a Volunteer Docent with the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, provides some meaningful and historic interpretation on elements of the re-created bridge of the Farragut Class Guided Missile Destroyer USS Preble (DLG/DDG-46). Page, who retired from the US Navy, is a Vietnam Veteran. The Preble also served during the Vietnam War. The bridge is located on the third floor of Nauticus, which shares the campus with the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. The Preble was commissioned in May 1960, was decommissioned in November 1991 and finally stricken from the Naval Register in November 1992. She was originally slated to be a museum ship; but this never materialized and sections of her bridge are on display. The museum is in the process of installing an entirely new exhibit which chronicles the US Navy’s role during the Vietnam War; its slated to open in October 2019.
