Gilbert D. Nadeau, a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy, attends a memorial ceremony for the 1st Infantry Division Soldiers who died on D-Day securing Omaha Beach at Omaha Beach, France, June 3, 2019. Nadeau was a Signalman and a veteran of the Battle of Okinawa. More than 1300 U.S. Service Members and 950 military personnel from Europe and Canada are commemorating the 75th anniversary of World War 2: Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day.
