190612-N-IK959-0595 GREAT LAKES, Ill., (June 12, 2019) – Hull Maintenance Technician 2nd Class Damar Bolden, a facilitator in the USS Chief Recruit Fire Fighter Trainer, shows Area 3 Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets how to properly operate a fire plug and hose at Recruit Training Command (RTC) on Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, June 12. More than 80 cadets and instructors attended the 2019 Annual NJROTC Leadership Academy. For more than twenty-five years NJROTC areas have hosted summer Leadership Academies across the country. NJROTC Leadership Academies were developed in order to prepare selected NJROTC cadets for leadership roles in their respective units by teaching certain leadership characteristics which aren’t necessarily available, nor, normally taught at the cadet's home unit.
