    Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division fold the flag during a graveside
    service for Staff Sgt. Al Mampre. Mampre served as a medic with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He was one of the 'Band of Brothers' whose exploits were made into an HBO television series and also a book by historian Stephen Ambrose. Mampre died May 31, 2019, in Evanston. Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division; Brig. Gen. Kris A. Belanger, Commanding General, 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command and representatives from several police departments took part in the funeral service. Belanger became friends with Mampre after meeting him at a Memorial Day ceremony in 2018.
