Brig. Gen. Kris A. Belanger, Commanding General, 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command speaks to Soldiers assigned to 101st Airborne Division during the funeral service of Staff Sgt. Al Mampre, on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Mampre served with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during some of the fiercest battles of World War II. Mampre, a resident of Skokie, died May 31, 2019 at the age of 97. Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division; Belanger, Commanding General, 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command and representatives from various police departments took part in the funeral service. Belanger became friends with Mampre after meeting him at a Memorial Day ceremony in 2018.
