Commander of the Combined Joint Civil Military Operations Task Force in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Republic of the Philippines, Armed Forces of the Philippines Navy Capt. Rosauro M. Sarmiento and U.S. Army Col. Philip W. Young, deputy commander of the CJCMOTF, are briefed about the techniques used to build new classrooms for Buena Vista Elementary School, April 2, by U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Louie Alvarez, steel worker chief in charge of quality control of all five building projects in the area during Exercise Balikatan 2012, an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at improving Republic of the Philippines and U.S. military force interoperability during planning, combat readiness, and humanitarian assistance operations. This is one of five engineering civic assistance projects the island of Palawan will receive during the exercise, which officially begins April 16, 2012.
