AL ASAD, Iraq: Corporal Nathan Winegardner, a sapper team member with A Company, 6th Engineering Support Battalion, augmenting 8th ESB and supporting Combat Logistics Battalion 2, 2d Force Service Support Group (Forward), demonstrates the use of an Army Navy Portable Search System 14 here April 4. The ANPSS14 is equipped with ground-penetrating radar to aid the Vancouver, Wash., native in the detection of mines. The sapper team Marines specialize in the discovery and destruction of mines and attach to every convoy CLB-2 dispatches as part of the battalion security and force protection measures.
