Service members from other U.S. military units gather with soldiers of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria who participated in the 103rd edition of the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen, that began July 16, 2019 and concluded July 19, 2019. Nijmegen, or Vierdaagse in Dutch, is the largest marching event in the world that occurs for four consecutive days. It is organized every year as a means of promoting sport and exercise. Over 450 U.S. service members were among the nearly 6,000 military marchers, and more than 40,000 civilians from around the world who marched 100 miles in four days in and around the Dutch city of Nijmegen.
