A hydrogen fuel cell powered U-30 Aircraft Tow Tractor tows a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the Hawaii Air National Guard 203rd Air Refueling Squadron, July 18, 2019, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The Air Force Research Laboratory on behalf of the Hawaii Center for Advanced Transportation Technologies conducted a demonstration towing on the Stratotanker utilizing the hydrogen fuel cell powered tug. This was the first tug demonstration on a large U.S. Air Force aircraft using the hydrogen fuel cell equipment. The project is a proof of concept demonstration to validate hydrogen fuel vehicle technologies in supporting Air Force mission requirements. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt.
