Col. T.J. Jamison, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade commander, of Broken Arrow, Okla., awards Chief Warrant Officer 2 Reginald Crowell of Louisville, Ala., an Army Commendation medal April 21. Crowell was one of two CH-47D Chinook pilots who airlifted a crashed Chinook from a remote mountain site in eastern Afghanistan. He, his co-pilot, and the downed aircraft recovery team saved the Army millions of dollars by developing a plan to save the helicopter instead of having it destroyed where it lay.
