190804-N-UA460-0152 SURABAYA, Indonesia (Aug. 4, 2019) – The Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Montgomery (LCS 8) departs the Port of Tanjung Perak to participate in the sea phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2019 as the Legend-class cutter USCG Stratton (WMSL 752) sits pierside in preparation for her own departure. This year marks the 25th iteration of CARAT, a multinational exercise designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies' abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
