Just as dawn of a new day... change is coming to Naval Hospital Bremerton with the Defense Health Agency officially assuming responsibility for administration and management of NHB, including Branch Health Clinic(s) Bangor, Everett and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Oct. 1, 2019. The National Defense Authorization Acts of Fiscal Years 2017, 2018, and 2019 requires all service branches to transition administration and management of military medical treatment facilities (MTFs) – approximately 430 Army, Air Force, Navy hospitals and clinics - to DHA not later than Sept. 30, 2021. To complement NHBs transition to DHA, Navy Medicine is establishing a co-located Navy Medicine and Training Command (NMRTC) Oct. 1, 2019. Navy Medicine, through the NMRTC, will retain command and control of the uniformed medical force and maintain the responsibility for operational readiness. This includes the medical readiness of Sailors and Marines, as well as the clinical readiness of the medical forces. (official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, Naval Hospital Bremerton Public Affairs).
