Airmen represent the Air Force 24/7, including drinking responsibly when off duty. Binge drinking means drinking four or more alcoholic beverages on one occasion, generally within about two hours, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a study in October 2011 that showed in the U.S. binge drinking costs society $223 billion a year, which amounts to $2 per drink. These costs include health care for alcohol-related issues, loss of work productivity, property damage due to drunk driving and expenditures related to criminal acts.
