Indiana National Guard Staff Sgt. B. Hardy, a 38th Infantry Division supply noncommissioned officer, serves with Task Force Spartan in the Middle East and ensures division soldiers have the equipment and tools they need to effectively conduct their missions.
Hardy, a 7-year military veteran from Indianapolis, enjoys improving the organization.
"I think it opens up many opportunities to better myself and give to others. I like bettering an organization and worked to improve our supply process over the last year and half providing better readiness," said Hardy.
While supporting logistics for the division's headquarters battalion, Hardy also holds qualifications for master driver, equal opportunity liaison and leads the company by being a level two Army Combat Fitness Trainer.
Hardy jams for the Naptown Roller Derby in Indianapolis and serves on several team committees to support the self-funded roller derby league.
"Leadership from the Army to Naptown has shown me how to use focus driven leadership to maintain morale. In roller derby I have to be able to communicate what I want and need to the blockers in a supportive way, and that translates over to Army and vice versa," said Hardy.
Using supply skills, Hardy keeps the battalion rolling along on skates and in theater.
The battalion's soldiers help deter hostile actions toward the regional partners as it leads Task Force Spartan.
