Long Island, N.Y., native Lt. Col. Daniel Garcia, commander of the 1st Cavalry Division's Special Troops Battalion, 'consults' with his trusted advisor, his 'Magic 8-Ball' at the conclusion of a question and answer session with his battalion's rear detachment and Family Readiness Group via satellite from the Media Operations Center at Camp Liberty in western Baghdad, Sept. 19. More than 150 Soldiers and family members met for the live satellite meeting at the Fort Hood Catering and Conference Center. The 6:30 p.m. start time in central Texas brought Garcia and his company commanders to the media center early in the morning, 3:30 a.m., to meet and discuss redeployment issues with the Families of Soldiers serving within the Division Special Troops Battalion (DSTB).
