NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY REDZIKOWO, Poland (Sept. 24, 2019) – U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Jon Hill (left), director of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), visited the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) site in Poland Sept. 26, 2019. This was Hill’s first visit to the site to see the progress being made at Naval Support Facility Redzikowo. Harry Spear, director of engineering, facilities and deployments for MDA, detailed the complexities of building a water purification facility on the base. Once construction is completed, the Aegis Ashore site in Poland will expand a defensive capability that protects NATO European territories, populations and forces against ballistic missiles launched from outside the Euro-Atlantic region.
