He was inspired to become a Marine in honor of his grandmother after she developed Alzheimer’s and gave him a Marine Corps blanket. Contreras hopes to travel abroad and become more proficient at his job. Contreras and his unit are preparing to take part in 2d MARDIV’s execution of MAGTF Warfighting Exercise (MWX) 1-20, which is set to be the division’s largest operation in several decades.
