Bill Hann, 100, U.S. Army, 1944 - 46.
Hann was born in Custer City, Oklahoma in 1919. He spent his youth working on a farm.
Most of the details of his military service are difficult for Hann to recall, but at 100 years of age, some things are bound to fade in memory. Like many American men during World War II he was drafted into the Army. He finished basic training at Ft. Hood, Texas and was immediately sent to the European front in the war against Germany.
He can’t remember much about being wounded, but he offers anyone who doubts it to feel the hole in his leg just above his knew. He recovered from his wounds in about two months. He remained in Germany until VE Day on May 8, 1945.
After returning to the United States from Europe he returned to work as a farmer and continued it all his life. He was married to his wife for 60 years.
