Bill Cline Jr., Clemson University class of 1970, holds a photo of his father, U.S. Army Cpt. William Cline, a 1941 Clemson College graduate, in Clemson’s Special Collections and Archives office, August 8, 2019. Cpt. Cline was a company commander for the 758th Tank Battalion, the only black tank battalion in WWII. The 758th served alongside the 92nd “Buffalo” Infantry Division and fought in Italy and helped breach the Gothic Line, Germany's last line of defense. (Photo by Ken Scar)
