Centering Pregnancy coordinator, Molly Hunter, talks to Sarah Stewart, during one of Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center’s pregnancy sessions. Centering Pregnancy is an innovative approach to prenatal care and empowers pregnant women to be healthy by taking an active role in their healthcare. Instead of having short, individual clinic appointments, participants meet in a small group setting with other women with similar due dates. Groups meet for two hours at a time, which allows for individual assessment of the baby's growth and heartbeat, as well as plenty of time for relaxed and open communication about different concerns and questions. All of the routine testing and prenatal lab work occurs in the Centering environment. Participants also will have the same provider throughout their pregnancy.
