U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Lucas Allie sits on a combat rubber raiding craft off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 10, 2019. Allie, a native of Portland, Ore., is a combat engineer who operates as a coxswain with Expeditionary Operations Training Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
“With the commandant’s guidance to get back to our roots as Marines with amphibious warfare, this training serves as a way to bust the rust off of the individuals who will be conducting those type of missions,” Allie said.
Allie and his Marines conducted helo-cast training, which included multiple insertions with their tactical gear and clandestine landings. He said this skillset increases III MEF’s ability to rapidly deploy its forces to austere environments. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Destiny Dempsey)
