Officers and senior non-commissioned officers assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division gather on the porch of the Central House Hotel in Germantown, N.Y. following a professional development lecture on Middle Eastern history by Bard College Professor Dr. Sean McMeekin (center) on Friday, Dec.13, 2019. The division is getting ready for a deployment to Kuwait in 2020 and McMeekin was asked to speak so the leaders could better understand the history of the region. The session was held in the Germantown hotel instead of at division headquarters in Troy, N.Y. to accomodate the professor's schedule. ( U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Trevor Cullen.)
