Fort Knox experts said the differences between soldiering in a garrison environment and a deployed environment has required the Army to put out two schools of thought on the matter of sleep, depending on the situation. Napping can disrupt a full night's sleep and should be avoided when possible, but for sustained operations in a training or deployed environment, napping may be the only way to get the sleep Soldiers need to stay alert.
