Q. What do you think is the greatest benefit of being in the military?
A. Being in the military has its ups and downs like anything else in life. The benefits you gain, however, are unmatched by other experiences out there. Besides some of the more obvious things like patriotism or a sense of duty, or even the pay and medical coverage, or say…retirement benefits and travel opportunities, or maybe even educational benefits like the GI Bill, not to mention a VA Home Loan, the thing I find to be the greatest benefit of being in the military is an unparalleled sense of belonging and worth. The comradeship that lasts a lifetime. Being a military veteran makes you an automatic member in one of the world’s oldest organizations and only those that have served can be a part of this honored group. People that have served together understand each other on a much deeper level than your average relationship. They all share a common bond that can be very difficult to explain to those who haven’t served. It doesn’t matter if you are 18 and just starting or 78 and have been out for thirty years. Being a veteran is something NO ONE can ever take away from you.

A. One year
Q. Why do you volunteer?
A. I understand the challenges that can face our military families. I understand the sacrifices that they make. I’ve been there. We are all in this together. I may not put on a uniform anymore, but I will never stop caring about soldiers and their families. I was accepted into this organization and discovered what brotherhood truly means.
