Boston, Massachusetts (13 January 2020)- LT Caitlin Fine, Operations Officer at the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, delivers a presentation in the "Major Weather Events and Impacts of 2019" session at the American Meteorological Society's 100th Annual Meeting. LT Fine discussed systems with significant operational impacts and forecast challenges during 2019 in JTWC's Area of Responsibility, which spans the Western Pacific, Southern Pacific, and Indian Oceans, and experiences tropical cyclone activity year round. Naval Oceanography interacts and collaborates with federal and academic research partners at many conferences and workshops, including the AMS Annual Meeting, to improve meteorological and oceanographic analysis, forecasting, and modeling techniques, and ultimately, ensure safety of navigation and operational advantage for U.S. forces.
