U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Paul J. Rock Jr., Commanding General of 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, meets Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing currently assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, during exercise Forest Light Western Army at Camp Takayubaru, Kumamoto, Japan, Jan. 18, 2020. Rock, an MV-22B Osprey Naval Aviator, visited the squadron detachment while the Marines are supporting the bilateral U.S.-Japanese exercise. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
