FORT BENNING, Ga. – At Fort Benning Jan. 21, work crews use forklifts to unload crates containing fitness gear units here need for the Army Combat Fitness Test, or ACFT, which becomes the Army’s official fitness test-of-record Oct. 1. The Army is in the process of shipping thousands of sets of the ACFT gear to units Army-wide. For Fort Benning’s units and three Army ROTC programs in the area, trucks arrived here Jan. 16 and 17 and delivered more than a quarter-of-a-million pounds of the gear. Unit leaders at Fort Benning welcomed the delivery, saying it’ll help their efforts to get Soldiers trained in the ACFT’s six events, and also aid their overall physical conditioning.
