Dr. James Kirsch, director of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center’s Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate, addresses his workforce on Jan. 30 at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., in his first town hall since it was announced CCDC AvMC would reorganize from five directorates to three. S3I is responsible for providing products to the Warfighter, and is organized into two areas, program support and life cycle engineering. The directorate comprised of approximately 1,100 people is responsible for software mission assurance, system security engineering, technology management, life cycle software engineering, hardware in the loop/virtual simulation, modeling and simulation, and the center’s prototype integration facility.
“I’ve told you before, and I will continue to tell you and everybody who listens, we are a national asset. You are a national asset,” Kirsch said. “The Warfighter couldn’t do what he’s doing if the PMs weren’t providing him the equipment he needed to do it, and the PMs can’t provide that equipment unless you’re doing your job. You are the technical expertise in the United States Army, particularly in aviation and missiles.”
