HONOLULU (Feb. 1, 2020) Ho'okupu offerings left during a Makahiki festival at Rainbow Bay Marina February 1, 2020. The Makahiki festival is a yearly celebration that parallels the western tradition of Thanksgiving , and was at time of peace when Native Hawaiians out aside their differences and gave thanks to harvest and Lono, the deified guardian of agriculture, rain, health and peace.
