Army soldiers assigned to USARAK gather together at the entrance of Building 1 to listen to the U.S. Army Alaska commander, Maj. Gen. Michael X. Garrett, speak following the Army Birthday Run, a four-mile route that took them off the installation briefly. The event also marked over 30 days with Garrett as the USARAK commander and allowed him the opportunity to provide his initial feedback to the troops directly.
