SANTA RITA, Guam (Mar. 2, 2020) A Facebook banner graphic celebrating Guam History and Chamorro Heritage Day, celebrated on the first Monday in March. In 1970, this holiday was first celebrated to commemorate the historic event when famous Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan landed on Guam on March 6th, 1521. This day serves as a way to honor and recognize the culture and heritage of the native Chamorro people. (U.S. Navy graphic by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Kelsey J. Hockenberger)
