    U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers build an improvised shelter out of a white pine tree using it's needles for insulation and flooring during Cold-Weather Operations Course (CWOC) Feb. 5, 2020. at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. U.S. Army Soldiers and Marines participate in class 20-03 of Fort McCoy’s Cold-Weather Operations Course (CWOC) in the training area, January 28 through February 10, 2020. Students are trained to snowshoe, ski, how to use ahkio sleds and other gear. Successful winter tactical operations depend on terrain and weather analysis, risk management, camouflage and concealment, developing winter fighting positions in the field and mastering skills essential to survive in the extreme cold.
