Over five weeks of classwork behind them the class prepares to remove the turret from the hull. On the morning of the turret removal, soldiers gathered at one of the monitors in the automotive bay to reference information before beginning the process. Each station in the bay has a television monitor that connects to a laptop containing information from a technical manual. For this exercise the class was divided into two groups using the same tank. The preparation for removal of the turret took approximately three and half hours. Soldiers did the preparation, then went to lunch. After lunch the physical removal of the turret began.
