(March 23, 2020) Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Candace Johnson, right, a Navy Reservist assigned to Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Chattanooga, Tenn., is reenlisted by the NOSC Commanding Officer, Lt. Cmdr. Peter Remillard, for an additional two years so that she can go on orders to provide support to the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20). Navy hospital ships USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) and Comfort are being activated as part of the Defense Department’s domestic response to the spreading COVID-19 virus. Each ship has a 1,000-bed capacity and is manned by military medical personnel, those personnel are being mobilized from across the active duty and reserve forces.
