(Dec. 4, 2019) Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) developed the Hammer Activated Measurement System for Testing and Evaluating Rubber (HAMSTER) to determine the condition of the interface bond between a coating and the hull. The portable, battery powered hammer uses a unique algorithm to provide a real-time evaluation of the condition of the bond with each impact. (U.S. Navy photo by James McDonnell)
