Demolition specialists from Sogard Environmental, Inc. demolish the old 101st Airborne Division and Garrison Headquarters building, T-39 at Fort Campbell, Ky. on Apr. 7, 2020. T-39 was a temporary building that was built in 1942 and was constructed to last only 20 years. It was built quickly at Camp Campbell to prepare for the training and mobilization of Soldiers during World War II. It served as the 101st Airborne Division and other division headquarters for 65 years and the Garrison headquarters for the last 13 years. The old wood building was dilapidated, in poor condition and uneconomical to maintain and was identified for demolition in 2019. T-39 was a landmark and a very recognizable building on Fort Campbell. It was located in the center of post as you drove in the main gate along Screaming Eagle Blvd. Post leadership and installation personnel came out to take photos and watch the building be demolished.
