Oklahoma Air National Guardsman Tech. Sgt. Kyler Wilson-Walker, a medic with the 137th Special Operations Medical Group, 137th Special Operations Wing, serves his community during a mobile testing event at Yukon Middle School in Yukon, Oklahoma, May 6, 2020. Medics activated under Oklahoma’s whole-of-government response to COVID-19 have assisted with testing at various locations across the state.
In the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, Wilson-Walker’s experienced a very exciting and uncommon hospital visit.
“My wife and I just welcomed another baby into our family,” said Wilson-Walker. “When all of this started is when we had to go to the hospital, they only let one person in at a time.”
Wilson-Walker has been at the forefront of the response, while his newborn child and wife socially distance themselves under the ‘safer at home’ order. He’s not only volunteering for his community but his family too.
“It’s bittersweet, obviously family comes first but this will ultimately benefit them in the end,” Wilson-Walker said. “Just the feeling of the pride and being able to help your state out is rewarding, and I know my family is proud of me for this.” (Oklahoma Army National Guard photo by Sgt.
