U.S. Marine AH-1W Super Cobras from Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 approach West Field to conduct field carrier landing practice July 7, during the harbor phase of Rim of the Pacific 2012. 'Vipers,' from Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Calif., will provide close air support, armed escort, assault support, and airborne command and control capabilities to the aviation combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force 3 during RIMPAC 12. Approximately 2,200 personnel from 9 nations comprise SPMAGTF-3, Combined Force Land Component Command. The CFLCC is conducting amphibious and land-based operations in order to enhance multinational and joint interoperability.
