Groton, Conn. (July 20, 2020) Command Master Chief Aaron Lee, relieved Command Master Chief Eric Murphy onboard Naval Submarine School.
Master Chief Lee, a native of Long Beach, California, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1997, after boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended basic enlisted submarine school and machinist’s mate “A” and “C” school at Naval Submarine School Groton, Connecticut. He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, and he completed the command master chief/chief of the boat course in 2019.
At sea, Lee reported for duty as a machinist’s mate aboard USS Los Angeles (SSN 688); as leading petty officer aboard USS Nevada (SSBN 733) Blue and as an auxiliary chief petty officer aboard USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN 730) Gold. He served as chief of the boat aboard USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735) Blue, and earned the Olympic bowl trophy for top ballistic missile submarine in the Pacific Fleet for 2014. As chief of the boat aboard USS Ohio (SSGN 726) Gold, during his tour, his crew received the battle “E” efficiency award to recognize their high standards of performance in the commands mission areas for 2017.
Lee’s shore assignments included service as recruiter in-charge at Navy Recruiting District Michigan; as damage control assistant aboard Submarine Squadron 19, Bangor, Washington, and as fleet chief petty officer training team lead of U.S. Pacific Fleet.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
