Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died July 19, in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Pfc. Jeffrey Leon Rice, 24, whose home of record is listed as Troy, Ohio, entered active duty service in October 2008 as a combat engineer. He was assigned to the 584th Engineer Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, since February 2009.
