The 428th Fighter Squadron celebrates 55 years of independence on Aug. 7, 2020!
Every year, the country of Singapore celebrates National Day on August 9th to commemorate their independence from Malaysia in 1965 to become an independent and sovereign state. The separation was a result of deep political and economic differences between the ruling parties of Singapore and Malaysia, which created communal tensions that resulted in racial riots in July and September 1964.
Singapore celebrates National Day to remember how far they have come as a nation with scarce natural resources, and to remember all that they have built should never be taken for granted.
