The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory argon fluoride (ArF) laser in Washington, D.C., June 1, 2020 waits to be tested with new thicker stainless foils. Researchers outfitted the ArF laser with new foils in hopes of increasing laser output. The ArF laser is the world’s largest for studying the physics of developing a high efficiency electron-beam pumped at 193 nanometers.
