PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 11, 2020) Lance Cpl. Juan Ontiveros, an air traffic control navigation aids technician, with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), prepares and demonstrates the Tactical Air Navigation (TACN) system, on amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). The TACN system provides the direction and bearing for planes in the sky so the pilots can conduct a safe landing. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team, is operating in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
