201006-N-IE405-1008 ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 6, 2020) Acting Command Master Chief Aegis Fire Controlman Craig Cotherman, assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), honors his shipmates killed when the USS Cole was attacked on Oct. 12, 2000. Philippine Sea is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
