Then Fire Controlman 1st Class Craig Cotherman has his photo taken following the bombing of the USS Cole (DDG 67) on Oct. 12, 2000. Cotherman is now the acting command master chief of the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) and is commemorating the 20th anniversary while deployed again in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Philippine Sea is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
