(Oct. 12, 2020) USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) comes alongside U.S. fleet replenishment oiler USNS Tippecanoe (T-AO-199) during integrated operations in the South China Sea beginning Oct. 12. McCain is joined by Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) JS Ikazuchi (DD 107) and JS Kaga (DDH 184). John S. McCain is underway conducting operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific, while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy's largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet's principal surface force.
