Air Force and Space Force Artificial Intelligence Accelerator Patch

    CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES

This identity design graphic was created to identify the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and the U.S. Space Force's (USSF) Artificial Intelligence Accelerator team in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Oct. 14, 2020. The graphic’s purpose was to bring together elements of the USAF and USSF to explain the mission while giving a nod to history. At the center of the patch is a T-7A Red Hawk, the USAFs new advanced jet trainer. Half of the aircraft has nodes of a neural network, the fundamental building blocks of machine learning algorithms. This represents a key component of the work at the Accelerator. The USAF logo and the USSF are in formation alongside the aircraft. This represents teamwork to address challenges, while working on broader ethical, moral and societal ramifications. The red rocker below the aircraft connects the T-7A namesake, “Red Hawk,” to the original Tuskegee Airmen and their Red Tail Squadron. The Accelerator builds upon the momentum of the Tuskegee Airmen to help lead the world in Artificial Intelligence development. (U.S. Air National Guard graphic by Staff Sgt. Rita Jimenez)
