201023-N-FA490-1057 PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 23, 2020) Fire Controlman 1st Class Kyle Thiel, from Wadsworth, Ohio, assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97), serves as mount safety observer during a Pre-action Aim Calibration (PAC) evolution of a Close In Weapons System (CIWS) from the aft missile deck. Halsey is deployed with Destroyer Squadron 15 (DESRON 15), the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
