Tim Blevins, an environmental specialist for Kandahar Airfield, explains July 16 how the black water retention pond on the airfield, better known as Poo Pond, will be drained and remediated in the near future. When Kandahar Airfield’s Deep South Waste Water Treatment Plant begins operating at 100 percent capacity within the next year, Poo Pond will become obsolete and its unpleasant odor just a foul memory.
